Q: How old do you have to be to start in the apprenticeship program?
A: 17 years of age
Q: What type of Education do you need?
A: GED or High School Diploma
Q: Do I need to be employed to attend classes?
A: Yes, You have to be working for a Licensed Master Electrician
Q: Once I get a job how long do I have to get registered?
A: You need to get registered ASAP. Contact our office for Registration forms.
Q: How many nights a week do I have to attend?
A: Our program requires you to attend 1 night a week for 4 hours.
Q: How long is a school year?
A: Classes start in August and end in May for a total of 144 class hours a year.
Q: How long does it take to complete the program?
A: 2 years for Residential Journeyman (288 class hours, 4,000 OJT hours all In Residential) and 4 years for Journeyman (576 class hours, 8,000 OJT hours).
Q: How do I renew my License?
A: All Apprentices must go through our office to renew your license. All completed Apprentices, Journeyman, Masters, RJ, RM will be In charge of their own license renewal.

If you are already licensed you will be required to upload your CEU certificate in order to renew your license. You must take the current CEU within the 1st year of code change before renewing.
If a licensee shall fail to renew his/her license within 36 months of expiration, the licensee will have to retake the exam and pay all late fees which could be substantial. You will need to contact the Arkansas State Electrical Examiners Board at 501-682-4547 to get license reinstated.
Q: Do my out of State hours count?
A: All hours from an out of State BAT approved apprenticeship program is accepted at 100%. Without a BAT approved program you can only receive 50% of the total hours worked if it was in the last two NEC code cycles.
Q: How long do I have to turn in my out of state letters?
A: You have 30 days from the date you were registered.
Q: What happens after I complete the program?
A: As soon as you have the required class and OJT hours in for completion, email us your Affidavits from every contractor you have worked for. Once we receive all required paperwork we will release you and submit your application. The state will contact you via email from there with approval, Test voucher, etc... We cannot release you before your 2 year or 4 year Registration date. **Per the state If you are testing for your Residential you are required to stay In school until you pass your exam.** You will have 1 year from release date to take and pass your test.
Q: What if I miss a class?
A: If a class is missed you need to make it up within the same month you missed it in.
Q: What qualifications do your instructors have?
A: All of our instructors have completed Train the Trainer courses and have certification in Instructing.
Q: If I have attended another school will my class hours be transferred to this program?
A: Yes, if it was an approved program through the State of Arkansas. The school you attended will need to send us a Transfer/Transcript In order to be transferred over to our program.

Q: Do any other states reciprocate with Arkansas?
A: Yes. Journeyman can reciprocate to Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming*
*Wyoming will only reciprocate a journeyman’s license with an individual that has completed a USDOL approved apprenticeship program of at least 576 hours of classroom time.
Masters: Oregon, North Dakota, Iowa
The Board only reciprocates an original license from the issuing state on this list. You cannot reciprocate a reciprocated license. A Master license from the list above can only be reciprocated with a Journeyman's license except for Oregon and North Dakota which Arkansas has a Master License reciprocal Agreement.
